4th grade students were interpreting the painting "Self portrait with Dr. Juan Farill", by Frida Kahlo, and other paintings by her. During our discussions we talked about how Frida often showed herself more than once in a painting.
Our focus was, "How can changes in identity be conveyed in works of art?"
Students made self-portraits of things they can do now vs. when they were in the 1st grade.
They were to incorporate actions, setting, and other details that illustrate changes in their identity.
