Cyclades
Hello
Cyclades is a narrative painting series made up of 134 paintings that I created from January 17, 1996 to June 14, 1998.
Cyclades, Greek for “those in a circle”
The Cyclades is a group of islands in the Sea of Create that lies southeast of mainland Greece; the islands form a circle position around the Shrine of Apollo on the isle of Delos.
Cyclades is a story of a boy and a bear’s journey from east to west, around the world.
The story’s beginning has been arbitrarily chosen.
In a number of paintings the boy and the bear are repeated. Characters’ moving through a picture is an old narrative painting tradition in many cultures.
Though none of the paintings have titles, unofficial titles have been given to help with referencing. Paintings were not painted chronologically as shown. Dates completed are shown with each painting.
