6th grade students were interpreting the painting "Self portrait with Dr. Juan Farill", by Frida Kahlo and exploring how artist use symbols to express identity.
At the time of this project they were studying about ancient Greek and Roman history in Social Study class and reading Greek myths.
Students explored the symbols used in Greek vase paintings and sculpture to show identity.
Each student chose one Greek or Roman god or goddess that they identified with and designed and created drawing to attach to can.
Students also created miniature clay bust of Greek gods or goddess
