8th grade students were interpreting the painting "Self portrait with Dr. Juan Farill", by Frida Kahlo, and exploring how she expressed her identity in her art.
Our discussion led to how critical events shape our identity.
We then interpreted and discussed Mexican narrative ex-voto paintings, and how critical events were expressed in the makers’ artwork.
Students planned and created their own narrative ex-voto inspired artwork to express part of their identity
