2011
All three 6th grade classrooms were reading stories around the theme of immigration, migration and refugee’s journey.
Students interpreted and analyzed the artwork Love of Winter by George Bellows, and Venetian Glass Workers by John Singer Sarget, to explore how artists communicated the theme journey.
Each student would create a symbol that represented a part of a journey.
This exact symbol image would then be created in 4 different medias
This students wanted to express coming from somewhere where only candles were still used, to coming to America where there is electricity everywhere.
