4th grade students were reading stories around the theme of journey.
Students interpreted and analyzed Winslow Homer’s painting The Herring Net and explored how the artist communicated the theme journey.
Students then created a silhouette as symbol representing journey.
They then painted 2 watercolor paintings mirroring each other to make symmetrical design for the background.
Students then collage watercolor paintings onto construction paper, and then collaged silhouette onto watercolor paintings.
